NOTE: This event consisted of several different activities and took place at church. You are welcome to break it up if that makes it easier to completer
1. Start with Prayer!
Each family member should say something that they are grateful for--name your treasures!
Pray together:
I am extremely grateful for all of your blessings in my life, Lord.
I pray that you remind of just how blessed I am and that you never allow me to
forget to show my gratitude in prayer and returned acts of kindness.

Station 1:
God wants to be with his people; us! Long ago, even before Jesus, God instructed Moses to build a special place, a tabernacle, where the Lord can manifest, to people on Earth, in a special way. Today, in every Catholic church, we place Jesus’s body and blood in the tabernacle. This special place, or dwelling, reminds us that Jesus is with us in church! Let’s learn about this!
Find Exodus 40:16-21
Now go on a quiet hunt, into the church, and find the tabernacle! Say a special prayer to Jesus once you find this holy structure.

Station 2:
There are many ways to pray. Some prayers are spoken out loud, sung in song, prayed silently or acted out in motion. We can also light a candle before we pray. In lighting the candle, we are signifying our faithful prayer by giving light; which Jesus always gives to us on our darkest days.
Find Mathew 5: 14-16 (this verse was also read at VBS this summer!)
Find the place at Saint Michael’s Church where you can light a candle and pray to Mary. It is near the chapel and holds a quiet peace! Once you are there, sit on a chair and pray however you feel comfortable.
Here is a prayer about light: “Lord, may this candle illuminate all my difficulties and decisions. May this candle be a fire that burns away all my pride, selfishness and all my other sins. May This candle be a flame that warms my heart and helps me give love.”

Station 3:
Jesus wants us to understand and believe in His words. He wants us to know, in good times and in bad times, that He is ALWAYS with us. We will always go through hard times. We will always have sad days. Jesus wants us to have a strong foundation that reminds us He will never leave us and that happy times will come again. He will have a strong foundation when we know Jesus’ words and believe in them.
Find Mark 4: 16-20 (this verse has a picture if you are using the Bible from second grade)
Now, fill a cup with dirt (this stands for your foundation of Jesus’ words learned from the Bible), add seeds (the fruit/love of showing others Jesus’ love), add some water (this is your loving actions done in Jesus’ name). Take care of your plant and watch it grow! If you water it (do kind things in Jesus’ name and spread the Good News!), your plant will bear fruit (allow others to learn about Jesus!)

Station 4:
Jesus wants us all to love one another. This means we pray for people that disappoint us and forgive those who hurt us. Jesus wants us all to see each other as friends!
Read John 17: 20-23 (there is a picture if you are using the second grade Bible!)
Play a game with friends or as a family. Tell them “great job,” “good try,” “I love the way you….,” and anything else kind you can think of. Practice radical kindness!!

Station 5:
Take some time to flip through the bible and find a verse that speaks to you. Write it down and decorate this paper to take it home with you! (If you want some ideas, here a few: Sample Bible Verses)
Write down the verse you found on a paper and decorate it. If you are willing have your picture taken with it. Talk about why you love that verse and maybe post in a prominent place in your house so you all see it every day.
Hopefully this has shown your some NEW TREASURES in the Bible, the church community, the world and your very own home!!
