Good morning all, We hope everyone is safe & healthy. As we move further into our 2nd Grade PSR work we wanted to expand our learning activities & options into the Google Classroom world. Please take a moment and use the following link to access the course. We have sent this email to the parents of our students as our Families Growing in Faith program is designed to facilitate family engagement into the PSR learning curriculum. 2020-21 2nd Grade St. Michael's FIF/PSR Learning Google Classroom The goal is to add a calendar of events for the year; as well as releasing the classroom assignments on a weekly basis. If you have questions and/or problems please feel free to send an email. If we receive multiple emails on one topic we'll send one answer for all. Our goal will be to limit the emails and notifications that come out of our classroom as well. Thank You in advance and hopefully we'll see everyone in a "face to face" environment before we finish our year. Aaron & Katie 10/4/2020 Happy Sunday, my friends!!!!! We have the best message for a lesson two— WE ARE ALWAYS FORGIVEN when we say we are sorry!!! There are three things for you to do and one of my has your parents tell you a secret!!!!!!! (All the bullet points say one and I can’t change it; I’m sorry???!!!)
I bet you can also think of a time when you made a mistake and were not kind to someone (friend/sibling/classmate). I also believe that you want the person you weren’t kind to, to forget and forgive what you did! GUESS WHAT- we ALL makes mistakes. Yes— that means YOUR MOM AND DAD!!! (Ask them right now when they last made a mistake and see if they tell you what it was!!!) THE BEST thing you can do is say, “IM SORRY GOD FOR......(saying blah-blah to my sister/lying to my dad/hitting my brother/not cleaning my room when I was asked to). Right after you say that, 💥 BAM!! God says, “THANK YOU FOR ADMITTING YOUR MISTAKES. I FORGIVE YOU! Go have peace in your heart” Let me show you this amazing story. A major league baseball pitcher was about to have a PERFECT GAME and the umpire made a bad call, forcing his perfect game to not happen. The umpire realized he messed up after the game and said “sorry” to the pitcher. THE PITCHER forgave him right away and said, “No one is perfect!” Here’s the Article on Jim Joyce. If you don’t want to look at the article, I attached pictures of it under the link! Have your mom and dad make sure the ads are okay when you read this!! https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.sportscasting.com/mlb-umpire-jim-joyce-showed-exactly-how-to-handle-the-hardest-calls/%3famp You get to do the COOLEST thing this year. You get to make your FIRST RECONCILIATION! This is when you tell the priest all your sins and, through Jesus, your sins are forgiven. After you say all your sins, you will feel sooooo light and happy and free because your heart is clean!! It may sound like a scary thing to do, but I PROMISE us teachers will walk you through the First Reconciliation process and you will feel so prepared! It’s not until January anyway!! Three major point and two things to do: 1. God ALWAYS forgives you when you say sorry 2. Email or text me what forgives means/feels/looks like! 3. Practice forgiving this week. Really focus on forgiving someone who has hurt you or made you feel sad. HAVE AN AWESOME WEEK! And most of us get Friday and Monday off from school— yeah!!!!! 9/27/2020 Hi Second Graders! WE ARE SO EXCITED to explore the Bible with you! Can you believe you have your very own Bible? This Bible is awesome because it has pictures and helps us understand the stories in words that we can easily understand. I love to flip through and just look at the pictures! The Bible stories we will read this year, tell us stories of when Jesus was alive in the New Testament. DID YOU KNOW--God is ALWAYS with you? You may have had the BEST DAY, WORST DAY, HAPPIEST DAY, MOST SAD DAY, BEEN BLAH, BEEN STRONG, BEEN LONELY….and Jesus was with you through it all. I LOVE this thought because it helps me realize I NEVER go through anything alone. I can be laughing so hard and Jesus is with me giggling! I can be crying and Jesus is quietly listening and hugging me. I know you’re thinking, “Mrs. Ash, I have not felt that before!” But, I think you have! You stopped crying somehow….I think that was Jesus saying “I am with you, it’s okay to cry, but let me help you think of something else to stop crying!” And sure enough, your mind thought of something else and the tears stopped. Jesus also gave us friends and family to laugh with- the times I laughed the most, were with my friends. That is Jesus’ gift to us- friends! The first JOB you have today is to get your bible and open it to John 20:11If you need help, here’s a short link on how to use the Bible! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8fKbtabAIqk John 20:11. This story is all about how Mary was SO SAD and felt ALONE, but Jesus was with her! At first she didn’t realize Jesus was with her (I think we have felt super alone like Mary before). Then she stopped and realized JESUS WAS THERE FOR HER WHEN SHE WAS SAD! Here’s a video of the Bible story you will read. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xe50_LaJgWE The second JOB you have is to think about these words and store them in your “memory bank” in that smart brain of yours! I will send out a fun game with these words in the next few weeks! 1.Sacraments:This is holy (super special) signs of God’s love. There are 7 and we get to MAKE TWO OF THEM this year! First reconciliation (telling our sins/mistakes to the priest) and First communion (receiving Christ’s body and blood to strengthen our souls!) 2.Grace:God’s life within us! Grace helps us stay close to God and away from sin. 3.Sin: our actions, words and/or thoughts that doesn’t follow was God would want The last JOB is to read and complete your Lesson 1:Jesus is Always With US handout! Now smile and give yourself a thumbs up because you just completed you FIRST second grade FFF lesson! |
